The victory more ‘heavy’ in Macau: accident and triumph of the same pilot

Captura Gt

There are races that never disappoint and one of those is Macau, a classic each season. To win there is special, because of the great difficulty that entails. We are talking about the Grand Prix of Macau, an event that brings together the races of Formula 3, GT, passenger cars (TCR) and bikes in the same weekend.

Takes place on a street circuit located in this Special Administrative Region in the south of China for little more than six miles. Or the race of F3 or GT score for any championship... but to win here, has a value beyond the points, because that puts you at the height of the other riders who managed to beat here in the course of the story, such as Ayrton Senna, Michael Schumacher or David Coulthard.

This weekend has taken place the GP of Macau and we have been witnesses of the victory most strange of one of the riders that competed in the World Cup of GT. Laurens Vanthoorat the wheel of a Audi R8 team WRThas won for the first time in Macau... and your car, we can assure you, has not arrived “whole” at the end of the race.

Vanthoor leading the race in his lap in the fourth lap. A lap later, the second classified, the pilot of Porsche's Earl Bamber, attacked the belgian and I got to overtake him. With the aim of recovering the leadership, Vanthoor continued to Bamber, with such bad luck that it touched a piano, he lost control of the car and flew through the air. The Audi flipped over and ended the race upside down.

The commissioners took the red flag and stopped the race. Due to problems of time and programming, was cancelled the test and gave by valid the results of the fourth round. Thus, Laurens Vanthoor has been proclaimed winner of the 63 GP of Macau.

“I don't know what to write. I'm fine, just a little shocked. I've won the World Cup of GT, but I don't feel as it should. We were fast and we were in a position to win, but I made a mistake. It is strange that things have happened as well. I'll be back to get a victory proper”

Well done Team!!Amazing finale to the #FIAF3 season.Thank you @afelixdacosta @sergiosettecama @JakeHughesRace @LandoNorris @VolkswagenRally

The race of Formula 3, the most spectacular of each year, has won the Portuguese António Félix da Costa, who has already triumphed there in 2012. The only Spanish to win in Macau, Daniel Juncadella, who won in 2011, has returned this year and, despite having serious brake problems, has managed to cross the finish line in the eighth position.
