Porsche Panamera 4 E-Hybrid: with the E-Performance the electric motor improves performance

At the Paris Salon beginning late September, Porsche will present an interesting hybrid version plug-in of the new Panamera, the 4 E-Hybrid. I say that it is interesting because this is not a hybrid, but in this case they have ensured that inherited all the good of the 918 Spyder to make the hybrid system and the electric motor are used in combination to improve the performance of the car.

The Porsche Panamera 4 E-Hybrid has a total power output of 462 horses and up to 50 miles of electric range. In this way a purely electric that we like to move around town, the car reaches 140 km/h, but it is when you activate the other modes when the system helps the new engine of gasoline to achieve a performance of authentic sports. Is called E-Performance, and we will tell you in what consists this system.

It is best to start with figures. The Porsche Panamera 4 E-Hybrid accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.6 seconds and reaches a top speed of 278 km/h. It is not wrong to be a hybrid as well of large. The key is in the electric motor, which delivers 400 Nm of torque instantly and develops 136 HP. Compared to what was happening in the previous version of the Panamera plug-in Hybrid, in this all of that torque is available from the first few millimeters of accelerator travel, whereas before I had to step up to a 80% to have a "chicha".

A combination of electric and gasoline for best performance

As was the case in the 918 Spyder, the electric motor is always available to provide extra power to the new gasoline engine 2.9 330 HP and 450 Nm, hence these breathtaking performance. In addition, the electrical energy is also used to increase the maximum speed of the car, something that I think we will see in short in the most athletic models of the German mark. A wonder this E-Performance.

To charge your batteries, that have gone from 9.4 to 14.1 kWh (and your weight has not changed) are required 5.8 hours plugged into an outlet of 230 volts with a current intensity of 10 amps, but you can reduce this time up to 3.6 hours using the optional charger 7.2 kW, 230 volts and 32 amps.

Among the other novelties of the new Panamera plug-in hybrid, is the new transmission PDK double-clutch and eight-speed transmission that has a touch more real than the previous torque converter.

The new Porsche Panamera 4 E-Hybrid can already be ordered in dealerships of the brand, its price is 110.890 euros and the first units will be delivered in mid-April of the next year.
