Volkswagen Golf GTI TCR

Volkswagen celebrated the 40th anniversary of the Golf GTI with the presentation of the new Golf GTI TCR.


Developed jointly by Seat and Volkswagen Motorsport, the model is a vehicle racing designed to compete in the International Series of TCR. Taking into account its purpose, the model has been equipped with a body kit, wide and aerodynamic, which includes new front bumper, hood vent and wheel arches. The body kit also includes side skirts reviewed and a rear bumper sports.

Given that the car was designed for competition, has been equipped with a series of adjustments in style aerodynamic, including a splitter up front and a rear spoiler of carbon fiber. The new VM Golf GTI TCR is mounted on wheels racing-18-inch with Michelin tires. Volkswagen also added a roll cage and a seat of racing with the head protectors.

The power is provided by a four-cylinder engine 2.0-liter turbo that produces 330 horsepower and is connected to a sequential six-speed transmission that features shift paddles mounted on the steering wheel. This allows the vehicle to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in only 5.2 seconds before reaching a maximum speed of 230 km/h.


In addition to the improved engine, engineers installed an adjustable suspension, a steering system revised, and a system of high-performance brake discs that measure 360 mm at the front and 310 mm at the rear. In a statement, the director of Volkswagen Motorsport, Jost Capito, said: “The Golf GTI TCR allows teams of contest, participate in motor sports for a reasonable price with a Volkswagen. We are proporcionandoles a car that is perfectly suited and prepared for this purpose: the Golf has not only made an excellent impression in the tests, but it also showed its great potential in the competition.”

Volkswagen will build only twenty Golf GTI TCR this year and all the models are already reserved.
